About Drass War Memorial

The Kargil War Memorial at Drass honours the Indian soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War, set against the backdrop of the Tololing and Tiger Hill ranges where the fighting took place.

History & significance

Built by the Indian Army after Operation Vijay in 1999, the memorial commemorates the 559 soldiers who lost their lives reclaiming the heights from infiltrators. The Wall of Heroes lists every name, and a museum recounts the operations.
