About Gurudwara Pathar Sahib
A serene Sikh shrine maintained by the Indian Army, built to honour Guru Nanak Dev Ji's visit to Ladakh in the 16th century and the legendary boulder bearing his imprint.
History & significance
According to local lore, a demon hurled a boulder at Guru Nanak as he meditated here in 1517; the boulder softened on contact and bears the imprint of his back. The gurudwara was established in 1517 and has been cared for by the Indian Army since 1970.
