About Nun Kun Peaks

Twin Himalayan giants — Nun (7,135 m) and Kun (7,077 m) — dominating the Suru Valley skyline and ranking among the highest peaks entirely inside India.

History & significance

First summited in 1953 (Nun) and 1913 (Kun), these peaks have a long mountaineering history. The base camp is now also a popular trekking and viewpoint destination for non-climbers exploring the Suru Valley.

  • Day-trekkers can hike up to the lower meadows from Tangole.
  • Best viewpoints are between Panikhar and Parkachik.
